Brief Bio:
I grew up in Concord, NC and graduated from Concord High in 1995. After five years of teaching in Cabarrus County, this is my fifth year teaching at South Stanly High School. In 2008, I was nominated the SSHS Teacher of the Year and I was the recipient of the Time Warner Cable Star Teacher Award. I am a 2000 graduate of Appalachian State University (Go Apps!) with a Bachelor's Degree in English, Secondary Education with a concentration in history and Latin. I enjoy reading, writing short stories and poetry, playing and recording music, listening to various genres of music, fly fishing, spending time with my family (especially my two nieces, Keaton and Salem) and my cat: the infamous Tigger. In the future, my plans include the following: National Board Certification by Fall 2009, publishing a set of short stories, continuing my education on the graduate level, moving to the ocean, and possibly teaching as an associate professor on the university level. I enjoy working with young people--it seems to keep me young despite the challenges. I can't imagine really doing anything else as worthwhile as teaching. So for the present time, I will continue to do my best to challenge and inspire my high school English students.
