I grew up in Concord, NC and graduated from Concord High in 1995. After five years teaching in Cabarrus County, this is my third year teaching at South Stanly High School. I am a 2000 graduate of Appalachian State University (Go Apps!) with a Bachelor's Degree in English, Secondary Education with a concentration in history and Latin. I enjoy reading, writing short stories and poetry, playing and recording music, listening to various genres of music, fly fishing, spending time with my family (especially my one year old niece Keaton), my girlfriend Alysha, and my cat: the infamous Tigger! My favorite literary works include the following: Shakespeare's Hamlet, Charles Frazier's Cold Mountain, Ruiz's The Four Agreements, and Hesse's Siddhartha. In the future, my plans include publishing a set of short stories, continuing my education on the graduate level, moving to the ocean, and possibly teaching as an associate professor on the university level. I enjoy working with young people--it seems to keep me young despite the challenges. I can't imagine really doing anything else as worthwhile as teaching. For the moment, I will continue to do my best to challenge and inspire my high school English students. ~Valete, Mr. N.
